Does anyone know how much the stock 05gt flywheel weighs
Would a 14 lb one cause much of a trouble?

Stock flywheels on our LGTs is 26 lbs. Here's a great review from rporter on .com.
Now, the one update that I would recommend to everyone, regardless of which clutch you use, is to get the ACT Streetlite flywheel, which is 14-15 #s (Rob at MTS says 15#s, the ACT site says 13.9 #s for the other Subie flywheels, so ???, as I didn't weigh it). Remember that the stock dual-mass flywheel is about 26#s. There is a very noticeable change in how quickly it revs. In fact, on the highway at speeds over 70 (over 3K rpm), the car is noticeably quicker than before when you just mat it in 5th. The difference is also apparent in the lower gears. Put this flywheel on your wish list. It is also recommended to NOT get the 11# ACT Prolite flywheel for street use.

will any other tunning need to be done after that,(the streetlite).Or is it fine?
I heard that subarussss with light flywheels
will have like detonation problems and back fire a whole lot.

I haven't done this yet, so I'm not sure. This could be a great question to ask over on .com.

Stock one is heavy as hell. I still have one sitting around. The Streetlight one for the WRX was 14lbs, and I loved it. You might have some chatter, but you shouldn't need to tune for it.

I have had this setup for over a month so far. It's all broken in and fine. IMHO driveability is fine with it, like stock. I'm sure other people would feel different about that opinion though. There's no detonation problems at all. I love how fast it accelerates now. I masks whatever lag there is with the stock turbo. Can't wait for it to warm up and put this thru the paces at Putnam and Mid-Ohio. Overall I'm very very happy with this flywheel.

Maybe I'm just tired/hungover from a weekend of partying @ the Playboy Mansion but what does a flywheel have 2 do w/detonation?

Ok, I'm going to put my flamesuit on and ask what the heck the dual-mass flywheel is? I read the description on the .com and it's still not sinking in...
When I threw the Fidanza on my Talon that was the best thing I could have ever done for quickness in revving from a stop, and I never saw a single problem idleing through parking lots (like that should be a concern anyway).
I had emailed Fidanza asking if they were going to make a flywheel for the LGT, they wrote back with a "I dunno" response and never really suggested a different alternative...

Thanks for the article. So the dual-mass is basically just to keep spring rattle down or gear rattle down? 26lbs is massive...
