Just had these put on 5 days ago. Was a little discourage buying this brand, because they weren't know to make high performance tires. But after finding out that Continnental Tires has taken over and making these tires now. Now I feel more confident in purchasing these tires.
General Exclaim UHP 215 45ZR 17
Pros:tup:
First thing I notice was how smooth or soft they felt going down the street. That could be due to the fact that it has alot more rubber on these tire than the stockers, my stockers were almost bald. Price between $71 - $89 depending on size and dealer. Turn in response is quicker. Great street tires for rougher street conditions, able to take pot holes better (softer). Dry payment is awesome (sticky) and wet payment is superior to the stockers. Driving down the freeway @ 75mph in the rain with no signs of hydroplaning or floating feeling.
Cons:tdown:
A little bit noisey at first, but after 500 miles the noise goes away. Side walls feel soft under heavy cornering. Doesn't have a cool name like GS-D3 or Kill Roy on the side.
Summary
It may not be the best Auto X tire in it dry, but in the wet it will compete with the Goodyear F1 GS-D3s. All and all, these tires are great for the streets and besides being on the noisey at first it's worth it for the price. If you're looking for a High Performance tire on a budget, I highly recommend the Exlaims UHPs.

So you didn't go with the 235 45 17 ? ... why not
I just put the eagle F1 all seasons on mine in the larger size and I love them

Just want to stay stock and save a few bucks. I don't need larger tires since my car is used more as a taxi and not as a racer.
Nice. The way the thread looks is a seller for me...

^^ Don't you mean "tread" pattern.;)
Even though they are Summer tires, people have reported them for light snow use too. Since it has a deep tread pattern.
Yes "tread"... Everyone's a critic. Looks good!
have you tried hancooks?
heard they were the best bang for the buck
instead of getting the brand

How long do you reckon they'll last?

From most of the reviews I've read, about 25,000 miles seems to be the average. Very typical for high performance tires.

Yes, it's too bad I put so many miles on my car so quickly. :(
meh
when/if the engine goes out, install a built engine
thats my plan.

True that. Minus the "if"

Yeah, the when part is pretty much now. Or will be extremely soon. So, trying to source a USDM STi block for like $500.
sorry for getting off topic in your thread dooks, but...
i say if, because subaru's as long as they are maintained, they last a long long time.
but if you throw in the modification factor, not so long no matter how much you maintain them,.
Kinda why I said minus if the.
SO DOOKAE! *Baleted*

The car has been maintained, and is stock other than an intake.
And for the topic, I'm getting a set of these tires for summer time. ;)

Tires are very sticky on the dry and in the wet. These tires are great for the street, but if your looking for a stiffer, better feedback tire for racing then don't buy these. They are comfortable to drive on, but the sidewalls tend to flex a little when going into a corner, giving the car that unstable feeling. Don't get me wrong, they are a "bang for the buck".

I'm gonna get them in a 225 width, so they'll probably be a bit more stable for me.

Sad day last week when I jumped into my car and started to drive away. Started to hear .....thump...thump...thump...thump.

Tire was sliced all the way through and non repairable. Had to buy another one.:(

No not yet, hopefully this winter. They are rated for light snow though.

Took it up to the mountains a few weeks ago after a good snow fall. They did very well on the light snow. Can't compare to any heavy snow since most of the snow was packed already from other drivers.
Did go over some icy areas and you do have to be a little more careful, since I felt some slippage.
