Does anyone know how to remove the silver painted fog surrounds from the 08s? I want to paint these, but removal is not obvious.. I haven't pulled the bumper yet, and hope to not have to.

Got this figured out.. The whole thing pops out, black and silver piece are actually one piece.

That lip would be a perfect addition.. I almost went for the garage door lip while I was doing all this but decided to hold out for a deal on a real lip.

i know this is an old thread but by any chance could you tell me what kind of paint you used to do this? Any Primer? Clearcoat?

You have a few options with the paint......
If you want to color match the rest of your car, get your color code from your car. Take it to an auto paint supply shop and have them make you an all-in-one paint + clearcoat spray can. Otherwise, you can use any color you desire from any hardware supply store.
Here are the steps I use to paint my parts:
1. Sand - Lightly sand with 320 grit sandpaper.
2. Make sure the part is clean & DRY before primer.
3. Primer - Color match the primer with the color paint your using. Ex: Black primer = Dark/Black color paints....... Gray primer = Universal color Paints...... White primer = White & Bright color paints. Use at least 2 -3 coats, and let dry for several hrs.
4. Once dry, use 400 grit paper to smooth everything out, then air blast all dust off part.
5. Paint - Apply a very light mist over entire part, wait a few mins for paint to tac up. Then apply the 1st coat, wait 5 - 10 mins for paint to tac up. Repeat 2 more times.
6. Let paint cure 24 - 48 hrs before wet sanding.
7. Wet Sanding - use 2000 grit paper and lightly wet sand the paint until its fairly smooth. Do not use too much pressure, you don't want to rub the paint off.
8. Medium/light swirl remover - buff paint to bring back the shine.
9. Hand glaze & Wax.
* If applying a clearcoat on top of the paint, finish here....
8. After wet sanding wait until part is completely dry. Then apply 2 -3 coats clearcoat.
9. Wait 24 hours for clearcoat to cure.
10. Medium/light swirl remover
11. Hand glaze & Wax
Hope this helps.
