View Full Version : 94 Legacy How to Remove Console?

I just acquired a 94 Legacy and am trying to remove the shifter console to do some general cleaning. I have removed the 2 screws in the console box and the 12mm bolt under the rectangular cover but it still will not come out. I have a manual on order but would like to complete this seemingly simple task.
Would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

I don't know those years, but if you post a couple pics, I bet I could tell you where to look. I disassembled 100's of cars in my many years as a car audio installer.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate you trying to help me out. I will try to post some pics if I can't figure it out. The front portion closest to the dash just snaps in I think. Once this is removed I should be able to get out the other half.

I got the whole console off tonight. The front part over the shifter had to be pried out (no screws). Under this piece there were 2 more screws holding the rear compartment in place. With all 4 screws removed the whole console came out. It still took a while to remove due to the seat belts but problem solved.
There are still some issues like the auto driver seat belt not moving and the engine check light on and now off but it was given to me free and I'll have to see what else needs to be done.

There's usually a fuse that can be removed to disable the auto seatbelt, so check for a missing or blown fuse.

I'll look around for the fuse tomorrow. Hopefully it's something that simple.

Thanks for the input guys but I could not find a seperate fuse for the driver side motor.
But looking over the car I did see that the passenger side outer cv boot is torn and the differential oil is low. Will work on those tomorrow.
