im not sure if im posting this in the right area, but im having a hard time finding info on peoples experience with subaru active awd. i have an 09 auto legacy and i thought they all had the same awd torque split, guess not. i have dont bunch of reading about how the different systems work and stuff but i havent found anyones experincce with the active awd. I know it says it has senseors and it will kick in before slip how accurate is that? is it any good? so i would love to hear people experience with this active awd, is it even comparable to the full time awd systems? i dont have a turbo or anything so im not going to be launching off the line fast but i still would have like the even torque split so if anyone has any feedback good or bad about the active awd please let me know so i dont have to cry over my new purchase!

The awd systems vary depending upon your transmission choice.
Not just a difference between MT & AT but the 5EATs & 4EATs are different 2.

i think i only have the 4 speed auto transmission its just the 2.5i sorry should have been more clear. thanks for the link but anyone with real world experience of this system??!? does it blow compared to the full time awd systems?? it defenitly seems like i got the weakest awd system out of them all from all the research of been doing but i would love to hear what people have to say about the active awd vs. the other types of more full time awd systems.

Yep, u have the 4EAT (Electronic Automatic Transmission).
I've had mine thru 2 winters and can't really complain.
If u get crazy w/the throttle u can get wheelspin on less than ideal snow/ice covered roads. But I think it does prety well.
I never had any other awd car 2 compare it 2 tho.

It's an awesome read. :)
My Legacy, an '05 2.5GT sedan, is a 5MT.
My wife's current '09 Forester XT is a 4EAT. So was her outgoing '05 WRX sedan.
I've never really driven either of her two cars - the FXT or the WRX - "hard," in foul weather - so YMMV. But at least in "normal" driving, I honestly don't feel much of a difference between these vehicles.
Oh, and, of course, I've yet to really have the FXT in the wintry stuff. We just got it this spring.

yeah that was a good read i had not seen that one before! i guess it wont really make a difference for me that its not full time awd i dont really have the fastest car so and im not going to be racing it to where im going to push it to a point where its going to have wheel spin. i think its just cool factor of having it on all the time but primarly iit was for ugly utah weather! so as long as it performs good in the snow and rain ill be fine! just skeptical about these so called sensor that guess before you slip that would be one smart car!! hope it works as advertised in the rain and snow!!

It doesn't work that way. If a wheel slips they take power away from that 1 and transfer it 2 a wheel that has sufficient traction.
As the saying goes," It transfers power from the wheels that slip 2 the wheels that grip."
