Welcome to teh .org, Austin. :)

In all honesty, your best-returns option will be to scour the for-sale pages in "The Marketplace" section of LegacyGT.com - where there is a larger overall population.

Hey TSI,
Used to live on Chadbourne and on Lee Rd (big old house). How's Old SH doing these days... I miss Arabica (still around???), Miles Market, and Blossom....

Regards,

Dale

Hey Dale,

Small world!!! :)

I'm in Sussex. A lot of SH lost power two nights ago, when we had a big storm blow through. A lot of the nice old trees were uprooted, and took out lines. :( I don't think any of the houses in Sussex got hit (although the area around the family-center/park was first sealed by SHPD squad-cars, and then roped off once the live lines were secured; we lost power for about 12 hours), but some of the surrounding areas' nice large, old homes did not fare so well. One of our undergrad students, who goes to Princeton but whose family is in Shaker (thus with us for the summer), is still without power. Cedar Hill, down by CWRU, was closed during rush-hour on Monday afternoon, from downed lines from the storm.

Arabica, I'm glad to say, is indeed still going strong. My wife and I used to go to the one over by John Carrol a lot, when we were in school, but since we had Anna (now 3 and 1/2), well, we've become home-bodies, but we miss it sorely.

Stupid Starbucks is all over the place, though. One right across the street from the Firestone place near Cedar/Fairmount circle, and another one right in the "island," by the RTA terminal, at the intersection of Chagrin/Warrensville/Northfield, and that's just the two that I see, each and every day.

Miles Market is still going strong as well. There's a new shopping center that sprung up near it, but that strip-mall was hit hard by the recession - several stores did not even open.

The Shaker Square Farmer's Market is still going strong, too.

Where are you, now? Austin, TX?

Back on-topic..... ;)

Seriously, if you want bargains, just hoard your cash, and wait for a time to strike on .com's "Marketplace."

Given that the BL/BP has now had several years' run, people are either starting to part-out to return-to-stock for resale or, alternatively, are shedding "Stage II" components for more serious upgrades as their next evolution.

If you're patient, you can get some AWESOME deals.

I'm slowly amassing parts to "finalize/solidify" my "Stage II" - to optimize my vehicle at that particular power-point (as she's been dead-reliable, knock-on-wood, at this power level, and plenty fun enough, what with Cleveland Heights PD just around the corner ), and that's pretty much how I've come across some rather smokin' deals.
