I am currently in the soon to be process of buying a 2.5 legacy gt. I am looking at 06-08, i am staying away from the 09 because they are a little more pricey and the 05 seem to be the 1st year of the new style turbos. I am just wondering what year out of 06-08 would anyone consider a better year to get a lgt? What year seems to have less problems and or dealer recalls to be had. I am not really concerned about the fact of a turbo because my dad is a mechanic but i am just not looking to buying something that will **** the bed down the road or have constant problems because of a certain year range. If any one has any input, feedback and or helpful responses i would be more than likely to be all ears on them.

The only downside to my '05 was the cat converter in the uppipe which can come apart and destroy the turbo. Swap in an STI uppipe and you're good to go.

^^^ Fold down rear seats, I really wish I had. But '07+ is harder to tune. I like '06 the best, and I say that with an unbiased opinion.

Me too and that is my biased opinion  Just kidding

'05 and '06 are my favorite. I'm not a big fan of the gauges/dash change on the '07s....I don't really care for the front end of the '08/'09s....and don't get me started on the '10.

Really the only difference between the '05 and '06 is that the '05 has blacked out headlights and the '06 has the blingy headlights. Oh yea, and cloth was available in '05.

So there ya have it

Of course, my biased opinion is that the '05 is the shizzle, once the cat in the uppipe is removed. :)

From what I've read it was the earlier 05 models that had the turbo issues, mostly was due to lack of oil to the housing. I have a mid year 05 (65k miles) and haven't had any problems with my turbo. If you do get one, just make sure to check the oil level on a regular schedule.

Dumb question, but the cars engine oil is what also circulates through the turbo, right?

Yes sir, which is why synthetic is a better choice for turbocharged cars as it doesn't break down as quickly as dinosaur oil.

In November i got an 09 with 90 miles on it for the price another dealer wanted for an 08 with 19k miles. Just send a few dealers email asking if there are any discounts on the 09's.
