HELP! at trany probs 90 legacy

my 90 legacy will some time fall out of gear when driving up a steep incline. the trans power lightflashes 16 times when i frist start it. i did a self diag test on it and come up with 2 long flashes and 4 short flashes on the power light. i belive that this means a duty seloniod c. not sure however. can someone help?

Sounds like the clutch going out. But that's just a guess.

Have you replaced the trany fluid lately. Old trany fuild will cause slippage, I would change the fuild first. If that doesn't help, you may have a synchro going out.

What gear does it happen the most in?

it happens when your in dive and starting out for a stop light up hill. i'm planing to flush the trany this weekend we'll see what happens.

Sorry - no help here. Can you get the ECU error codes pulled, if any are stored?

Your auto parts store will pull the code for you and tell you what it is. When you go to get fluid, have them check it out.
