First, you find the two green plugs under the carpet and connect them- they're on the passenger side floor:

Here they are plugged together:

Then you plug in your Accessport:

Follow the install instructions explicitely and you will get a readout of the progress of the reflash:

As it reflashes, you'll notice the following on the dashboard- this is because the car is in dignostic mode due to the green plugs being connected:

After 20 minutes or so of playing True Crime on XBox, here's what I came out to:

The crowning touch is this plate surround:

It goes well with the one on the back:

I let the car warm up and drove it a few miles- it's not only more powerful, but it's gained a lot of part throttle response, so you don't need to mash the pedal to get moving as much. It seems that boost is on quicker and there seems to be more of it- I didn't watch the boost gauge very carefully because I was too busy with an idiot grin on my face exclaiming "Whoo-Hoo" ;) . I also didn't notice and of the dreaded shuddering at low RPM's. The one full blast I took to just the beginning of 3rd gear was amazing! It still behaves like it used to but does it with more muscle- truly a great value- once again, COBB does it!

My brother AP'd his '07 STi and he ain't lookin back. As soon as I can get my '08 LGT factory power dyno'd (baseline or some ****) I will look into this with some seriousness. On the Cobb website I couldn't find the '08 maps.... do they come with or is the same as '07's or what?

Why can't I see it? I'm thinking of doing this myself. Is there a risk of messing up your ECU at all? How much, if at all, does this help fuel economy?

This is an old post back in 2006, the pics have been removed by the OP.

You can run an AP as long as it matches up to you model year, tranny and mods that you have on the car. It is safe to run as long as the MAP on the AP matches the above.

Another safe alternative is going OpenSource tuning, where you use your own laptop, COM cable, and the free software. Find an OpenSource tuner and tune your own car for a fraction of the price.

Fuel economy? We mostly retune the ECU for more power, and just like anything else. The more you step on the gas, the more gas you'll lose. Drive normal and the MPG should remain the same as stock.
