Hey all - new member/new owner of a 2005 2.5i wagon. Mine is the base model with manually adjustable cloth seats.
I'd like to upgrade the seats to power adjustable heated seats, mainly for the benefit of the heat. Has anyone done that or had experience otherwise? Is it possible, or a huge hassle? It seems it could be tricky with the side airbags and the passenger airbag weight sensor. I'd also need to install the heater switches in the center console (there is an open spot for the switch to fit in mine) but not sure if there is wiring under there, or extra connectors to facilitate this upgrade or if I'd have to do a lot of splicing. The heaters/power adjusters are something I'd feel confident in wiring, but the airbags/sensors are not something I'd want to mess with wiring if the connections are not the same..

I'm just looking to swap out the front seats, but if I come upon a full set for a wagon, I'd switch them all. Mostly, I seem to be finding seats from sedans, which would be ok. Not to concerned with interior looks, just looking to upgrade to power/heat. Thanks -

The hardest part is finding the seats in good condition, all the airbag wiring is the same and the power connectors for the power seats should already be installed in the car. So it should be plug and chug for most everything. For the seat heaters you will need the factory wiring from the switches to each seat, I am not sure if their is a powered connector for the heat to hook up to. I just added heated seats to my 03 forester and only had to splice the power wire from the 12v outlet in the center console. The legacy should be similar. I had everything from a similar model forester though, I just ran the wiring harness's and spliced the power and hooked the ground to the chassis. Then installed the heating elements and seat wiring of course.
