5mt fluid change questions

So i have read about synthetics and regular oils and think i'll just use regular valoline in these trannys. my question is, where is the dipstick? the manual shows it along the firewall next to the resignator. i can't find it anywhere. and i haven't got under the car yet but where is the drain plug? also how often does it need changed.

rear diff needs changed, but i think i will put syn in there.

IIRC, the dipstick is on the passenger side of the vehicle near the firewall.

The drain plug is on the transmission. IIRC on the RH side of it as well.

1st you have to take off the engine cover. The dip stick is between the turbo & engine block on the passenger side. You would also need a 60 mm Torx bit to undo the transmissions drain plug.

He has a 2.5i. Location is the same and you use a T-70 torx bit. Also come to think of it, I think the drain plug is on the bottom of the trans.

My bad! Didn't read the last line that said 2.5i.:o I do believe you are correct about the T-70 bit, I just remember it was a beotch to find here in town, searched about 6 different stores before finding one.
