Installing new StopTech brake pads tomorrow. Next week I'll give my reviews as how well they stand-up against my pervious Hawk HPS pad.

What made you switch from Hawk?

Read some mixed reviews on them and a few people have compared them to Hawks, and the prices are cheaper. So I figured I'll give them a try.

It's been a week now, and I have to say these pads DO NOT compare to Hawk HPS. They grip well, but don't have the initial bite that Hawks have. I find myself pressing harding on the brake pedel under normal and heavy braking.

StopTech Review as compared to Hawk HPS
Initial bite - Fair
Cold braking - Good
Warm braking - Good
Pedel feel - Fair
Sound - None, very quiet
Fadding - Undetermine, haven't notice any fadding yet under heavy braking.

Final thoughts, StopTech is better than OEM and great for the streets, but I wouldn't run them in an AutoX or track. They just don't give me the overall feel under heavy braking that I would get from Hawks. Hawk HPS is still, IMO, a better brake pad for just about every application.

I went with a set of these when I did rotors and clutch/flywheel recently. I chose the Cryo rotors and StopTech pads all around. They're definitely an improvement over stock but initial bite didn't seem too good to me either. Also wet performance doesn't seem to be as good as I'd hoped.

Had them on about 3k miles now and recently did some logging and subsequent high speed stopping and I'm already getting some brake vibration and light grinding at low speed.

I'm hoping to be able to throw a set of Hawks on at the end of winter without changing out the new Cryo rotors again.

I stopped using them once I found out I was having brake issues, found out one of my pistons was sticking and had to rebuild the calipers. I might give them one more try just to see if they work any better.

I've been happy with my Stoptech pads, but then again I have never before used anything other than OEM replacement pads so I have nothing else to compare my experience with.

I believe they're good pads, just didn't like cleaning my wheels every 2 days.:o
