View Full Version : Clutch replacement questions
I'm actually going to let a shop do my clutch, as I don't care to lie on the garage floor for an hour or 2 at a time. :)
So - will I need to supply new flywheel bolts? I forget if these are torque to yield or not. I've always re-used the bolts in the past, but thought I'd ask.
I swapped in some Mobil 1 synthetic transmission/front diff lube about 6 months ago, and am not happy with how the tranny feels, so I'll be replacing it with something else. Should I go with Subaru Extra S? Any other recommended product (Redline?) or combination of products?
Thanks.

From all the posts I've read, using the standard recommended trans oil is the best way to go. Several people are having issues with the synthetic oils because they lack a certain about of additives for the manual trans. Redline does make the proper trans oil for our cars, can't remember which one, but when I find it I'll post it up. I read about it on .com.

Huh, good question...I chickened-out and took her to the dealership, so I also honestly don't know. I'd like to know, though.

I'm again with the Dookster on this one, just go OEM. It's actually been working pretty well with me.
I have another concoction written down in my notes in the garage, one that my locals swear by, and which I originally intended to switch to, I'll post back tomorrow evening with the recipe. m sprank, hopefully, will also weigh-in here on his recommendations.
I'll also check on the question above regarding flywheel bolts, too, but I'm betting that blackfang will beat me to it. :)
