Now, that's going to be a hard one....you'll *have* to insure that you're getting the same T/in and T/out, from the TMIC, after your modification, as you have before.
Why?
Because for the factory BL/BP LGT, there's no true charge-temperature sensor: the ECU bases its calculations via the Intake Air Temperature sensor on the MAF assembly.
So, if you're not cooling the charge air effectively after the intake, this could be the start of a bad, bad thing.
Truthfully, you can lose quite a bit of the front grill(e)'s "open space" before cooling is impacted, so rigging up additional duct-work, in terms of an "intake" type device, at that area, should not be a problem. However, conducting air from there to the TMIC's location - particularly with enough flow and without having it heat-up from the passage through the engine compartment - will be challenging.
In all honesty, I'd say that this is not something you'll want to pursue unless you either switch to a FMIC now, or do so at the same time as the hood swap.
Regardless of which of those routes you choose, though, you'll need to at least datalog, if not remap the ECU, to insure safety.

BTW, nry8th, you said that the dealership will honor your warranty.
If this is a verbal agreement - and yes, even if it comes from the dealership's upper management or owner - I'd get it in writing, and make sure your lawyer says that it's bulletproof.
Although there are a few dealerships who've won our trust, there are just as many out there who most definitely do not have the best interests of the end-consumer at-heart, and will say virtually anything to make a buck.
Since this change will so dramatically affect the cooling of the TMIC, it can potentially have implications for your powertrain warranty. So be careful!

Data, FMIC versus TMIC:

Now, he's an experienced tuner - so, what's he going to adjust? The IAT/Timing table.
This thread here, of course, does not debate between FMIC versus TMIC, but still, the data is very interesting, based on the TMIC alone - look at how the IAT and core temperatures inter-relate. Now, given that you're going to be changing the main route with which cooling air is conducted to and through the factory TMIC with your proposed hood-change, see how that might create issues?
That's what you have to watch out for. :)
