Remote Starter 2005 LGT

I am considering buying a remote starter for my 2005 LGT but have run into some conflictual information as to whether or not I will need a valet key installed under the dash to communicate with the CPU. Does anyone have any information regarding this? I want to make sure I have all that I need before I buy something. I would appreciate any information at all.
