Hi all -

I just upgraded my winter car from a '98 Legacy wagon (below) to a 2000 Outback. This is my winter car, as New England has lots of salt and I'd rather not rot out my FJ Cruiser prematurely (plus Subarus are much better winter cars anyway!)

So a couple of questions-

1) advantages/disadvantages of a 2000 vs my old 98? Do you all like the 2000 style better? I like that it's a safer car, but I think the 98 is a great looking car - it's so low though

2) the 2000 I bought, I got for a whopping 975 dollars. Now - mileage is up there - 250,000 but it's in nice shape and I know a properly maintained car can do 300,000 pretty easily. Plus at this point I'm sure head gasket issues have been taken care of.

So - here's my question. It was being sold cheap because the seller thought it had a knock. I don't think it does. What are your opinions?

Here's cold startup..

Reminds me of my old classics and waiting for the lifters to pump up.
