Well it was past due to redo my front grille, since there was a lot of rock chips and cracks developing. My buddy showed me a video from his Acura Forums where they were using Plasti-Dip to coat their emblems and grilles. The cool thing about it is, you can peel it right off and recoat it if needed. Plus it will prevent chipping and cracking since it's rubber based.

I love that stuff, painted my Leggy grill and my Forester grill with it. If I end up installing the lip it will also get a coat of the "dip"

Dookie how did you get the emblem back on the grille. Mine is in serious need of a change. Is there a D.I.Y guide.

I believe there is a walkthrough on .com. Here is the cliff notes to painting and attaching it to a custom grill.

Painting the emblem:
1. Seperate the chrome ring from the plastic emblem.
2. Sand the back of the emblem, the flat surface, using 350 -400 grit sandpaper.
3. Paint the back with your color choice, enamel paints work best.
4. Wait a few hrs to dry, re-attach chrome ring using heavy duty double sided tape.

Attaching to custom grills:
1. On back of emblem, lightly sand the chrome off the plastic tabs on the back, one on each side.
2. Epoxy 2 bolts (3/4 - 1 inch long), one on each side. JB Weld works great.
3. Once cured, place the bolts throught the screen and tighen with nuts. Epoxy the back of the nuts to sercure them in place.

I'll post a pic of mine later for example.

Just don't over-sand the back of the emblem. I decided to take a short cut with a wire brush on my drill, and there's a couple marks that went through to the chrome stars. Oopsy!

On another note, I used spray-on truck bed liner where my front lips gets paint chips (so it's rad and black now). I'll post pics when I get it on.

Cool.

The front of my emblem was all dinged up. I sanded it down with 400 grit paper to smooth it out, then sprayed clear coat over it to make it look brand new.

Completed my front lip. Thought about painting it the same as Kagen's, but decided to match my grille using the Plasti-Dip. Here's some pics.

Bought this lip of Ebay, it's the '06 WRX s204 style lip. It's almost a perfect fit, just had to heat up the corners a little to form it to the bumper. Overall, it was pretty easy to do and it's worth the $65 bucks, IMO.
