You remove the USDM beam and put in a JDM beam, or leave it off if you dont want to pay money for a JDM, or you cut the USDM one in half or you just dont get the bumpers at all.:D:tup:

USDM bumper beam is twice as thick as JDM bumper beam - US safety requirements.
'08 model has been redesigned with the USDM bumper beam set back further, so it looks much closer to JDM bumper.

That's cute....a couple years a little too late. Yea, I really don't think I want my engine to end up in my lap in an accident (very very possible here with these a$$h0le....I mean...great Virginia drivers). If my car wasn't my daily driver, I would definately risk it, but....not this one.

Sounds like you have some of the same drivers we have here in Atlanta.
From some of the accidents I've seen mentioned on the various Subaru boards, we're more in danger of being rear-ended than doing the rear-ending (or T-boned, or run off the road). To me, it seems astounding how utterly stupid some drivers can be. They should have never passed their driving test.
I lived in South Florida for a few years before moving to Atlanta, and there were some scary drivers down there. A friend of mine got passed on the shoulder by a little white-haired lady going 85 or 90. After passing him, she continued to drive on the shoulder as if it were a highway lane!
So, I guess no single place has a monopoly on incompetent drivers. That's actually the reason I usually drive a little faster than most traffic - to keep ahead of all the loonies. It's a lot easier to keep an eye on them as you come up behind them than it is when they sneak-attack you from behind.
It's Defensive Driving, officer. Honest! :D

Unfortunately, I haven't worked up the courage to actually use that line to an officer yet. I'm kinda doubting they'll see it the same way I do. I can see it now: "Very funny mister, now turn around while I cuff you!"

He did say "again"... I guess that means he's sticking with Subaru rather than going elsewhere for his next car. He ought to be even more excited come November...

Guess I was wrong on that November thing. SOA pulled the rug out from under us again! Maybe next year.
