Went back and forth with it, but 1" is about all I can safely swing with my 18's. I think in retrospect I would have looked for something with a higher offset so i didn't have to worry about rubbing.

Anyone do a spring install yet? How bad is it? Don't say search the posts...please.

its not that bad my friend did mine. the front is very easy its just like the WRX he said but the rear is a little more tricky.

This is my tips for the rear:
1) The bolts o the top are behind the back seat so it has to come out
2) get a jack under the the bottem of the strut cause there is preasure on it
3) Expect to see some play in spring berofe it is installed, you need to jack it up so it compresses the spring and strut to bolt it back in place.

expecting those things you should be fine and its not all that bad. BTW i probably saved you 20+ min on your install time by telling you this. Good luck and post pics. If you want wait till an install meet and you can get help from them, if you want I can talk to some people and see if they wanna come by and give you a hand, I would also be up for that.

Thanks for the heads up! When you say pull the back seat, I assume you are referring to the seat back?

^ No, the rear seat doesn't have to come out at all - the rear top is easily accessible through the trunk compartment on our sedans. This is actually the only area where I'd disagree with brother ih8vtec13's advice/hints/tips.

For the rears, you don't even have to un-do any of the trunk's interior lining retaining clips - just take out the carpeted cover that lies over your spare/trunk-organizer, and then trace your finger along lining of each side. You can simply pull up the section you need from the "floor" of the trunk, reflect it, and easily gain the access you'd need. A standard 3/8 inch drive ratchet, fitted with a standard-length socket of the appropriate metric well size, will easily work to free the two nuts holding the strut inside the vehicle.

Search up brother mccorry's install post (of his H-techs). It's a full step-by-step picture "walk-through." I believe he's moved it into the "Walk-Throughs" section of LGT.com's Forums. It's a very comprehensive and detailed post.

Brother ih8vtec13's jack trick (#2) is also the same as I'd posted on mccorry's thread, and will help you tremendously in easing the removal of the rear lower strut bolt (which would otherwise be under tension and will be hard to remove, even with a good punch and hammer setup).

If at all possible, having a friend with air-ratchet/impact-gun access would make the process much, much easier and faster.

Well i'm fat and sort of clostriphobic so for me that was better

BTW when doing mine we did know about the jacking up part and that bolt would not move with an air rachet, Between that and hitting the wrench with a mallet at like 12:30-1:000 am the neigbors and his mom (he lives with her) could not have been too happy, and it is in one of those nice little golf community developments.

ROFL!

No problem, brother - I'm actually nowhere near "sevelt" myself, but I was able to bend-over far enough (I hope no one reads too much into this! ) to reach the rear nuts (man, this could SOOOOOO be taken the wrong way) that way, without much problem.

On the other hand, I'm definitely not claustrophobic. :D

That's what happened with us, too. The sucker just wouldn't move.

Then, all of a sudden, divine intervention - I somehow got sparked with the obvious observation that the bolt would be under tension, the way we had it.

Took the tension off with the jack, and voila!

About your ride height on 18s - you're mroe than fine. I was on 18s with a wider offset AND a wider tire and I didn't have problems lower over 2"....;)
