View Full Version : Upgraded tint and cheesy lips

I went back for a second layer of 50% on the rears because it was just too light for my taste. The tint guy had a "great rear lip spoiler" for my car, and cheap...:lol:
The guy didn't have it there to show me but promised it could be removed if I didn't like it with no marks :wtf:
I've know the guy for a few years and he never has done me wrong in the past, so I gave it a shot. I'm not sure you can actually call this a lip...more like a thin Hitler mustache? At first I was like WTF, but I almost am starting to get used to it. I know I need something there and I don't want to settle, but funds are tight right now too.
Go easy on me guys

It is a faux CF, but I gotta say it's a pretty good knock off. Hey, for $20, it at least gives me an idea of what I would want in the future.

I didn't realize it was cf look. Keep it man- it's a nice shape and the cf look is hot! I wouldn't paint it.

No BS - I actually like it.
That's a pretty darned good faux CF "weave" - if it's actually somewhat glossy up-close, that'll contribute even more to the illusion.
A local highly modded Evo has one after a factory de-wing'ing. His is plain black, paired to a white base vehicle color and blacked-out accents throughout. A very aggressive and coherent look.
I like it. :)

:p I'm not a big fan of the CF look usually but that lip looks good like that. Flat black not so good. I still think red is the best but that thing looks pretty slick. I'm not a fan of a big wing either.

I am definately not a big wing fan either. I didn't think I would like the Stock LGT Spoiler, but am liking it more every time I look. As far as the color, still playing with adding more CF...eyelids, scoop insert, etc.. Just not sure if the CF works, or to go to red. I put up a post on .com for a trunk swap and may go that route if someone is interested. I just dumped a bunch of cash in to her, and have to keep it tight for now. Plus, I just got notice that they're shutting down my division and moving it in to PA. So I gotta start looking for a job...14 years later.

I have a genuine carbon-fiber "thumbnail" wing on my Talon - no "double-decker" wing for me for that puppy! ;)
As for the LGT's factory wing, well, I didn't really like it all that much, at first, but I've found that it's grown on me quite a bit. Now, I can't imagine my car without. :lol:

just said it might fall off because there's a video somewhere of a spoiler falling off a car. i think it was a clipse

I pushed it to about 110 on an open road to see if there were any issues. Nothing...no additional wind noise, no nuthin. Even took out the pressure washer on it and it was fine. I'm definately not sold on keeping it, but I am prety impressed with how it looks for the buck. That being said I am waiting for a trunk swap on .com.

The Eclipse's wing was a physically MUCH larger piece, if I remember correctly - I seem to also remember it being a "two-decker" wing.
If brother Effin's lip spoiler is simply attached via the typical all-weather 3M Automotive Molding/Trim tape, there's no reason to think it will ever fall off, at any speed, under any weather condition, for more than likely the next 10+ years. That stuff is used to help secure aero trim and protective molding on OEM and aftermarket applications, and is also used on OEM badging.
That infamous Eclipse's wing was probably improperly installed to begin with - or else had material failure allowing the bolts securing it to the deck (larger/"higher" components are often secured using actual hardware) to "shear through."
The irony of it is that that particular double-decker wing was more than likely a pretty expensive piece of accessory, too. But as with anything else, improper installation = problems.

That Eclipse's damn ricer wing was an embarrassment to all of us hard-core DSMers. We're know for being extremely aggressive in seeking out a bargain, but we're also just as well known for having things work correctly after we fix/properly install them. Wings falling off, CF hoods go flyin'. That stuff is what gives us DSMers' a bad name. :(

ha! yeah, i got really confused when i was reading through this thread, because i met effin (great guy) before and he was telling me hes getting another car..
oh and you can get that little lip spoiler on ebay. just type in M5 Lip Spoiler. its a cheap little replica, but sure looks nice! i had it on my TL.. but i painted it because my car was white and the fake cf look was getting kinda tacky. here's a pic

4 sho, from what I understood, the dude with the G35 sold it to another buyer. So he ended up going the more economical route with the Civic, which he stated that fits his current needs better.
It's always sad to lose a brother to a Honda.

yeah... it really is. I had an RSX (upscale civic), Acura TL (upscale Accord), and now a Legacy. and to be brutally honest, i feel like ive really been missing out for the past 5 years. what the hell was i doing spending my freaking high school life savings on an rsx when i couldve gotten a 4WD Turbo WRX for the same price?! and back then it was the bugeye gen! and then another 28,000 on an overweight accord when i couldve had a legacy!
i really mustve been chokin on some of the craziest stuff to be so braindead to even think consider those cars when my answer to all my tracking needs were always right there in front of me with all the performance package wrapped in one.. subaru's FTMFW!!
