OK, I had already picked up a stock up (used but with less than 10k on it) and now I just picked up a brand new stock down from Ebay ($9.99) and yes, it is brand new. Here's the big questions... (keep in mind, funds are not available)
How difficult is it to gut them both?
Can I run stage II once I do?
Is a brand new down worth anything in reality?
Is it an effective way of running stage II or should I wait forever untill funds are available to go with aftermarket ups and downs.
1)it's not easy to gut them but not too horrible. Just gotta be real careful. Wear a mask & make sure you get it all out
2)You can run stage 2 but you'll be leaving alot on the table power-wise
3)I dont get the 3rd question
4)It'll work if that's what you're asking. A new UP/DP would be better of course.
Basically, yeah, it'll work. It wont be as good as having say a cobb DP & some other UP (preferably with a flex section ;) ) but it will work. Guys have done it.

Is it a difference in pipe configs that would leave so much hp on the table?

can't say for sure. I'm just goin off of what I've heard. I know the blank plate over the wastegate as opposed to a bellmouth or divorced section on the DP doesn't help. Figure the stocker is not as "open" as the others. The UP shouldn't make much difference.

OK, compared to stage 2, Is it worth it...with increased spooling, etc?

I have no frame of reference. I think wukindada gutted 1st before he got new DP/UP & way before he built the beast. I'd ask him.
(I'm not 100% sure he's the one)

It's more of the size and restrictiveness on the pipe that makes the biggest difference. The blank plate/divorced/bellmouth aspect doesn't really start becoming a large factor until higher power levels are reached..

fair enough. I knew someone could explain it better than me

actually, I meant to ask if it would be a big power difference over stage 1 with stock up and down?
ok, ok yeah. It's a noticible difference
