I'm TDC stage 1, K&N panel filter, gutted up, F&R sways, GPMoto coilovers, & Hankook performance tires. Can I take a stock '05 S4? Whaddya think. My friend just got one and I'm waiting for him to ask me to race. My other bud just got the MazdaSpeed3. That one should be fun. I can take him to 60ish, then he pulls on me. I need an AVO 380!
you need stage two, and then, maybe

I have him off the line, but once he gets to 3rd, around 60, I'm sure he'll take me. We havent raced head to head yet, but thats my opinion so far. Soon we'll go head to head and see how it really turns out.

According to the internet, the '05 s4 is 0-60 in 5.5, and stock LGT is 0-60 in 5.7. They have 600 lbs on us (due probably to twice the cylindars). With my mods, I think I may be able to hang to 60. It's 0-120 that will kill me~!

Effinponderous -- it's stage two time. haha.
But an S4's a pretty quick car. The 0-60 number is kind of arbitrary. They do weigh more, but they also make quite a bit more power with a flatter torque curve I believe (all those cylinders are worth something). I say race him. And then share the results so we're all forewarned.
on a track, of course.

So we were out last night, and hit a light (at a track, of course) and he called me, I think to offer to race. The light went green as I answered the phone so he got a jump on me (hard to answer the phone & drive a stick at the same time), then I floored it, caught up on him and pulled in front of him by about 1/2 a car length before I got on the brakes before the next light (at the track of course). When our friend who was following behind asked if we raced, I kept my mouth shut, 'cause I didn't want to be a jerk; it is his brand new toy. He said he didn't give it his all and he let off the gas in a corner 'cause he felt the back end sliding out. I didn't feel that and I was on my Re92's. He has an auto, so I'm not sure how he could have babied it. I know he took off, and braked hard at the next light, so I'm pretty sure he gave it his all. We'll see again in dry conditions on a straighter road, so he doesn't have any excuses.

forgive me, I didn't realize it was an auto S4 vs a manual LGT. THat makes a hell of a difference.

Ok so similar question, How about a 5EAT LGT against a 2000 A6 in a MT?

the 4.2 or the V6? I think it could take the V6 probably. But the V8, maybe not. Then again, the S6 gets from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. That's a hell of a long time for 420 hp. The thing does weigh as much as a small oil tanker though.

^^I've always been a fan. Especially liking the A3's. They're a tight package that can set 5. I'm happy. Audi's have always been too bulky for me... Too much weight.

I've always, and still, liked their styling (both inside and out) as well as level of overall refinement.
Several of my good friends are dedicated VW/Audi/Porsche guys, and honestly, I'm rather weary of the VW/Audi's propensity towards having electrical and mechanical gremlins based on their experiences. Now keep in mind that these are *dedicated* fans of their respective marques, and even then, they throw this out as a cautionary statement to their friends who are looking to buy, new or used. :( That scares me a little......
I still lust after an S8, though. :)

You Audi fans need to visit Germany. I will count on the way home but I bet I see over 50 audis and at least 5 S Series ones.

I've yet to see a sedan-RS6 in my area....there's a wagon, though, that parks in the lot downstairs from our buliding. I've unfortunately yet to meet that owner.
The S4 owner I encountered yesterday was nice and friendly. I typically will goose my car up the drive leading out of the school/hospital campus simply because I consider it a rather dangerous intersection, and as such, I like to clear it as fast as possible - I didn't notice that he'd been behind me at the turn-out, and I was glad that he did not take my having goosed the car up the hill the wrong way. :o
We had a nice chat at the next set of lights, and I hope he contacts me so that we can paint his brake calipers - he'd confessed to not being a DIY type, but I'm hoping that I can turn that around for him. :)

Lets get one thing striaght.......Audi does not ship the RS6 over here. I'm assuming you guys are talking about the RS4.
I saw one (RS4)the other day, had to take a second look because at first site I thought it was the S4. It was way better looking than the S4. Awesome ride.

Uhhh.... incorrectamundo. http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/audi_rs6.asp
Yup, they do. 450 hp. Quattro AWD. Hottness.

I corrected myself, I meant to say that they don't ship them here. Unless you can get them special order.

wrong again, they did sell them here. I remember stalking them at the dealerships in 2003. "Just 860 units will find their way to the U.S. before Audi remodels the A6 a few years hence."

No, that would be nice though. I'd still happily take an '03 without question.

^ Even here in Cleveland (east-side suburbs), they're very, very common.
I think that my daily commute (your length, all on local surface-streets), sees actually a similar amount of Audis of various vintages and model-years.
Not counting parked ones, of course! :)

I didn't realize the Mazdaspeed was that quick of a car......but then again I don't really pay attention to Mazdas that much. Check out this website.....it's some good reading.

My bud in his MazdaSpeed 3 and I went out for a cruise in the mountains, and he called me to race at 60mph ish, and I was sure he'd kill me, because thats where his car supposedly pulls the best. I pulled 2 car lengths on him by 95 mph. Woot, stage 1! Maybe had we gone faster he would have caught up, but not this time!
