View Full Version : Springs

So I decided to go with the Swift springs. I think I might be a little disappointed though. I am worried that it is gonna look to stock, but I don't want to do anything aggressive b/c I do not want to sacrifice my ride quality. Anyways the question I have is where did everyone who lowered their car get their camber kit. I have been searching all over the place and can't find one. Ebay has one for the front but what about the rear??:Dunno:

LGT already has adjustable camber, I dont think we need that! I've never seen an LGT specific one, nor heard of people needing it. That Ebay pic is very similar to my stock bolts, without the little marking tab.

Yea, I called the local performance shop here that specializes in Subies. He mostly works with STIs but he said that he kows for a fact that the front already has a camber kit installed. He said he doesn't know about the rear but he said he will know when he puts it on the aligmenment machine if he will need them or not....if he does, he has them in stock. I learned a new fact yesturday......about 90% of cars on the road don't even need camber kits....I thought they all did

Has anyone heard of H&R Springs?? They are probably well known but I have never heard of them. If anyone has heard of them, are they reputable? This is what they offer at Tire Rack:

Not popular on the LGT forums. How much are you looking to spend. I can make a reccomendation based on your price range. Also, how much of a drop do you want?
SubieChik
06-20-2007, 06:27 AM
Around 1.5", give or take a couple tenths. I might just go with the Teins just cause they seem reasonably priced and there is a little talk about them here and there :)

I heard Eibach made some pro springs but when I went to the eibach website and put the vehicle make and model in, it said the springs are in development:confused:

What about Cobb, Pinks or Tein H? Or the Swift you already mentioned.
NALegacy

why not go with the Bilstein specific STi Pinks available in the JDM? Probably a much better matched ride to your shocks...
SubieChik
06-20-2007, 07:44 AM
Because I might as well stay stock rather than pay at least $300 to lower my car half an inch. I am more going for looks than I am performance so I would be extremely disappointed. If I was going for performance I prolly would go with those right away. But as of right now I don't even know if an 1.5" is going to be enough for me:rolleyes: Ha just jokin
Dookie
06-20-2007, 09:17 AM
Let me know what you go with, because in Aug. I'm going to drop my beotch. BTW, from all the reviews I read, the Cobb springs tend to make cluncking sounds. I have no need for pinks or swifts since I don't plan on racing, mainly just for looks. My racing days are over.

From my understanding if you are just going for looks (like I am) Tein S Techs are the way to go. Around $250. Don't get the ones off eBay though.

^ I'd have to agree - the S-Techs offer a very aggressive, "slammed" look that very well compliments the LGT.
However, they are, as anyone would tell you, on the stiff side.
Trust me, I know.....the Talon in my garage rides on these springs, and it's one of the reasons why the wifey mandated that I get a "family car."
Just be careful that you're willing to suffer this compromise. :)
Also, I'm not quite sure how our stock struts/shocks will pair with the S-Techs. You might want to dig-around a bit on .com to see what others there have said.

I'm wondering if my Bilsteins will make the ride any better.....even if it is the slightest bit...
Bskey
06-21-2007, 05:48 AM
I'm sure your bilstiens will dampen them a bit better. I have S-Techs on stock struts in my storage unit, as that's what I ran on before my coilovers. They were fine, and I think the S-Techs were designed with our stock struts in mind; just a rough ride!
SubieChik
06-21-2007, 06:05 AM
How bad though.....cause I don't kow if I'm willing to sacrafice comfort for looks. I either want it low (1.5") or not at all.....like I said I don't want to waste my money for a teeny tiny bit lower than stock look
Bskey
06-21-2007, 07:20 AM
Yeah, it would be a sacrifice. I have pretty rough coilovers on now, and several friends have commented on how much the ride has improved over the S-Techs.

You need to look at all the spring rates of the brands you've been eyeing. Spring rates will determine if you're gonna get a harsh ride or not.
Bilsteins+STI Pinks have been a really good combo for people that want a lowered look with good ride quality.

Here's what the drop looked like when i had Bilsteins and STI pinks. Keep in mine the car is on a slope.

Gives it a nice suttle lowered look (Not the slammed look)

That's about where I have my ride height set on my coilovers. It's good happy-medium of ride sharpness and aggresiveness, yet I dont eat every curb like I did with my Tein S'. They forced me to adopt the habit of parking a foot back from every curb; my wife just laughs at me.
Dookie
07-14-2007, 08:52 AM
