From turbos to grilles, and we don't even know you. It's gonna cost you for all this info.

DIY is easy, cheap and fun to do, but if you want to spend the dough here are some sites.

Yes, I did and it only cost about $30 bucks to do. It doesn't require many skillz to do, just some time and patience. Thinking about redoing mine again because I found a better looking screen from Summit Racing.

No serious answers right? The silicone i was using didn't work very well, and droops on the painted part of the grille too easily...I should have bought a pre-built one...

Duct tape will come off after awhile.

Zip ties and/or bondo is all you need.

I usually wear what I am thinking on my face. My husband gets on me about that sometimes. We were at Walmart a couple of weeks ago and they had merchandise going down the middle of the aisle.....you know separating it into two way traffic. There was a little space between two of the racks and this lady tried to squeeze her cart through it.....quickly too. There was NO WAY she was getting this cart through there.....the cart was bigger than the space! My husband said that I had what I was thinking written all over my face......like you dumb ass do you really in your right mind think that was going to fit?? He had to grab my arm and pull me away. I guess it was that bad. I don't even know when I do it though.

^^ I'm telling you, it's cheaper to do it yourself. If you have question on how to do it, just ask us. $30 bucks and 3-4 hrs. later, presto!! a new grille.

I did a little research & it seems like a multi day job
Doesn't the fill in area take time to set?

Bskey
09-15-2007, 11:03 PM
Yeah, but the setting time doesnt count as labor. You just sit there with a beer in one hand and watch it set.

Dookie
09-15-2007, 11:22 PM
2.5sbd - Not if you know what your doing. If you add more hardner, it speeds up the curing time. I was sanding my grille just under 2 hrs. after appling the bondo. Sure, if this is your first time doing something like this, it may take a little longer.

It's up to you, if you don't have the time and think its to difficult, then go buy one. If you want to get your hands dirty and have a little fun, let us know, and we'll help you.

IMO - Satisfaction and money saved is well worth the time spent.

I thought you said that your grille was a factory option :confused:there's no US factory option for grill. i made that myself with some plastic chicken wire (gutter guard).

i did purchase a JDM Subaru SportMesh Grill. its still on order.. its been on order for a long ass time from Japanparts.com.

its supposed to be here on the 29th... that's if it doesnt get delayed, again.

here's the ordered grill
http://japanparts.com/db/partslist.php?dealer=1&car=6&middlesmall=2%3A11&maker=5&volkey=107-048-002

if you look at the pics of my grill, you can see the outline of where the chrome chrysler wing used to be.. even with the mesh on there. ugh.. super ugly.
