Here is a guy treating his Legacy like a SUV
I gotta say though the car can go thru some deep sheet

I'd totally do that stuff to if I had a beater car. Awesome stuff though. Subaru all wheel drive for the win!

I give props for that.
Clearly, the intent of this Legacy was not modification for Speed Racer speed - not street drag-racing, not AutoX, not a track vehicle.
The Legacy is a capable off-road/rally chassis. There are locals here - all with previous-generation models, alas - who do the same with theirs.
It's got my respect.

That's smoke coming off the wet muddy exhaust. I've done that a few times in my previous 2.5RS, never got stuck and ended up pulling a 4x4 chevy outta the mud. Silly American trucks.

That video had this quote on the bottom...
My Subaru that was...totalled...had to leave it in the mountains and come back with a new tire for it. This is the rescue attempt from a ditch...and Derek's ex saying WHAT A PIECE like i hadn't hit a tree the night before.
I don't quite get this...so he hit a tree the night prior, which was what I assume put him in the ditch and did the primary damage to his front bumper skin and left-front tire.
This was the "rescue attempt" that was filmed - apparently, they couldn't get a tow truck up there, or have someone with a tow-capable vehicle come help-out, I'd imagine?
And *after* he got the car out with that stunt, they had to go back and get a new tire for it. Right?
When/how was the car totaled? From this?
As a last-ditch (no pun intended) drive-out attempt, I'd say that was actually rather impressive (not necessarily the driving, but the car's capabilities). It makes me feel good to know that I could at least rocket the car out of such a situation, and limp her back to civilization, if I absolutely had to.

Watch the film again, there are no trees in site. He had to be doing something stupid (drunk) the night before and either A) blown his tire and went off into the ditch. B) Doing something stupid to case the tire to blow and ended up in the ditch. By the looks of the rim he had to be driving on the rim for a few miles before ending up in the ditch.
