I have heard that oem rotors are good rotors and unless you are auto crossing on a regular basis.
I use hawk hps pads and stock rotors woth no problems

From my experience with brake setups, this is what I've found to work best with our cars.

Blank rotors (stock) + Hawk HPS Pads.

I had some nice slotted rotors from DBA and only lasted me less than 1 yr. before they started to warp/fade, plus having the slotted rotors turned will only make things worse. Right now I'm running R1 Concept blank rotors with Hawk HPS pads for almost 2 yrs now and haven't had any problems.

Be sure that your rotors actually are warped, CTE.

The BL/BP, along with many modern Subarus, when driven (and thus braked!) enthusiastically, are prone to leaving deposits from the stock pads over the rotor in an uneven manner.

If it's pad deposit, try burning it off by rebedding. And if the problem recurs, it's a good indication that perhaps you're a good candidate to step up to more aggressive pads, in order to avoid the problem in the future.

Like the other brothers here have said, typically speaking, blank rotors of good quality - slotted if you desire - will be just fine when combined with a good set of pads, good fluids, and routine bleeding (the swap to stainless lines shouldn't be "necessary" on an '08 that's seen few road-miles, but if you desire a firmer feel, this would definitely also be a valid way to go).

Although many of us in the community pursue big-brake kits, experience/history based on AutoX fanatics such as Xenonk on .com has taught us that the LGT's braking system isn't "lacking," per se - and that matching pad selection and tire selection will greatly enhance what's already there and will take it to a level that can easily satisfy the vast majority of aggressive street drivers and even AutoX racers.

----

RE: slotted/cross-drilled

Overall, avoid cross-drilled rotors, unless you're willing to buy quality *and* furthermore tend to not use the brakes hard, as most aftermarkets tend to crack from the stress.

Yes, my rotors are drilled and slotted, but I drive like a grandpa, and wanted the bling.

^ Top secret...

It'll enhance your braking distances even more if you put a 1/2 of a sticker on EACH PAD.

The sticky from the stickers makes for awesome initial bite.

On a related note, since you're down for a couple, urabus -

I don't know if they have the segment online, yet, but the latest issue of Car & Driver has a couple of pages dedicated to that brake mishap they had with the 370Z, at ViR, for this year's "Lightning Lap" event.

^ I don't remember off-hand, for the updated testing, but at ViR, when the C&D staff ran into trouble, it was on stock pads.

That's a good one, I'll have to tell my local members that one.
