CPO or not to CPO

Hey everyone, I'm curious about something. I am shopping for a 06-09 Legacy. I went to a dealership in Pittsburgh where the service manager told me that getting a car certified pre-owned is not worth it. He claimed that their dealership does a 158-point inspection on any car that comes in and that certifications just cost money. The Legacy I was looking at was an '08 with 45k miles on it and the balance of the factory warranties. Any thoughts on this, anyone? Is it worth looking for CPO vehicles rather than not? Are the factory warranty balances enough on used cars?

CPO is a good piece of mind to have, knowing that the dealership has inspected everything, but not a necessity. You can ask the dealership if your mechanic (or a trusted one) could look it over too, for a 2nd opinion.

Yes on the factory warranty, the factory warranty will remain with the car until the mileage/yrs are up.

IIRC, the CPO cars comes with an extended warranty from SAS. I would call Subaru and double check though. Also CPO cars get what is needed in order to be certified. If it is not a CPO, then can say ahhh forget doing those brakes, it is not a certified so we will let the customer deal with it.
