2002 Legacy GT clunking noise
Good Afternoon All,
I seem to have a unique problem with my 2002 Legacy GT. For the past few weeks I have noticed a clunking (no other way to describe it), sometimes in the front, sometimes in the rear, not sure exactly where it is coming from, but know it's different places when I start to drive forward or park the car. I don't think it is the transmission, it does not make the sound when I put the car in gear, just when I initially step on the gas, stop at a stop sign, light or park the car. Could it be the shocks?, springs? frame? I seems to be getting louder with time. Any and all help would be appreciated before I take it to the dealer and he thinks I'm crazy, I would like to give him some options to look at... lniwrek@gmail.com |

It could be a few things. I would inspect these items in this order 1st.
- Lower control arm bushing (this is common after so many years) - Swaybar bushings and end links - Motor mounts - Transmission mounts - Rear dif mounts Must external clunking sounds usually is related to some type of bushing or mounts that have gone bad over time and use. |
