Default Rear window is hazy: Remove plastic treatment?

My '93 Legacy rear window has some sort of plastic treatment that has become hazy. Can hardly see anything when backing up, which is downright dangerous.

Can I remove it? Any impact to the de-icer wires?

If the haze is from old tint job, there is a tint remover spray that will loosen the film and you'll be able to peel it off. Some auto stores will carry it, I've even seen it at Walmart.

If it's not tint film, try using a paint cleaner, such as Mother's Paint Cleaner for auto paint. This stuff works pretty good on cleaning most surfaces.

Post a pic if you can, so we can see what's on the window.
