Default fog lamp issues 03 Legacy GT wagon

These are now failing regularly on both sides (independently). As I said to my mechanic it seems like it only became a problem once we started having to replace them, now we are always dealing with one or the other failing frequently. My guess is moisture or something getting in there (rain or shine). Anyone have similar issues or success with a heavy duty bulb replacement?

If you're using cheap Ebay bulbs, then yes they will burn out in a few months. A good brand would be Orsram's by Phillips. Here's a link to one vendor.

Check weatherproofing of the caps that protect the back of the lamp housings from moisture ingress. The seals could have degraded over time.

Check the electrical contacts down there, as well as the condition of the wiring - everything from inside the bulb housing to outside.

^ That should take care of "moisture from the inside" issues.

Check the condition of the lens and surround...can it be that water is entering the housing from "outside" - i.e. from the front of the vehicle?
