Holly crappy.

Are they going to replace the whole double DIN or just the HVAC part. I've found several used ones on car-parts.com for $250. Some are the '07 that come with the AUX input too.

No prob, this is what we do here.

I've called some of the dismantlers on previous parts before and requested them to email me a pic of the part. Most of the time they will.

Hi Everybody! I took my car to the dealer and they said it was not my control unit. I then took it back to my nephew and we disconnected the heater core, We then flushed and back flushed over and over and over again. We hooked up a garden hose to the top tube and then a drain hose to the lower tube. Turned on the water and flushed it for about ten minutes then swapped hoses and flushed it again for another 10 minutes. We did this about 20 times and hooked it back up added the Subaru brand coolant, and then got the air out of the system. I am pleased to say that I now have heat from every vent.

Thanks for all the help and advice!

Next front and rear brakes!

Well back at this year... All but one vent blows cold. So I am gonna replace the heater core. Wish me luck, and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I will most likely buy a Hanes repair Manuel or something like that.

Bummer. Sounds like the core getting pluged up somewhere.

Good luck.

I've never had to do this, but I heard it's a b!tch to do. Over on .com, search for Vaction Pics, there is a downloadable service manual that can help you with the steps by steps.

OH snap. Dookie thank you so much for the link. I had downloaded the pdf to the vacation pics last night. I should have posted that. Thank you for going above and beyond. These are great "pics" and such, but perhaps I am missing the part of actually How to do the "water skiing"? The library up the street has a Chilton's "water skiing" with info I need, so I will go hit them up this week. Again thank you so much.

ps. please don't tell anybody I am a 42 year old that used the phrase "oh snap"

Was gonna change out the Heater core last Saturday but the part arrived today. =(. So I disconnected the heater core lines, drained it filled it up with CLR, and went mountain biking for a few hours. came back. flushed a few times from each hose. Filled the heater core up with Genuine Subaru coolant, hooked it all back up. seems a lot better, not perfect. but it will hold me a few weeks until I can get the time to do it right.

Keep me posted, I'm interested to see if a new heater core will fix your problem. Haven't heard too many of these problems.

OK OK OK. finally changed the heater core... and as soon as I hook up the battery the parking light come on, and won't go off.... UGH.

On a plus note. when I ran hot water through the old heater core the side with the inlet and outlet got hot but the other side was still cold...
