Default Clutch Replacement

Hi Folks,

I just cooked my clutch and was hoping to replace it myself as I realised its not a technically difficult job, IMO. I haven't done this before but did some homework on clutch working principle and replacement. I just wanna know, after disconnecting those electrical cables and sensors during this excercise will I need to reprogramme the ECU?

Nope. Once the ECU has lost it's memory it will re-learn. If you've reflashed the ECU the realtime map will be lost so in that case you'll have to reload it, but the base map is static.
Look passive, be aggressive. Scare them.

Changing the clutch is not very difficult, just time consuming. Took me close to 8 hrs over a span of a weekend. Here's a few tips that I learn along the way.

Most people have a hard time seperating the Bell Housing from the engine, there are 2 metal dowels one one each side. If the tranny seems stuck, spray some lube on those dowels and slowly work a small crowbar around the tranny until it starts to seperate.

A tranny jack would help, but if you're tight on space like I was, I hung a pulley system above the engine bay. Attach the pulley to the front part of the tranny, have a friend man the pulley, while the other under the car to detach the tranny and lower it together. Works great when putting it back on so you don't have to man handle it. This is my biggest tip, as it's a B!tch to get back on.

If you plan on replacing the flywheel, make sure to have the proper tools for it. Several members have a difficult time taking off the bolts that secure the flywheel.
