Cheers? From the USA and I bet that you picked up the Austrailan accent too huh Accents are easy to pick up....especially after you have lived there for 20 years.

too bloody right love! Americans think I have an accent and aussies know I have a yank accent still ! You never lose what you are born with is what I say.

Depending on the exchange rate really. My car cost AUS$72,000 which makes it at the time of the purchase around US$61,200. You need to understand though that the average salary is over $60,000 per annum and in the mining industry the average salary is over $100,000. Minimum wage is also something like $13 hour here in Oz.

I'm moving to Austraila!! Who's with me!!!

I'm sure you get used to the differences in income and prices. I used to live in the Bay Area, and the standard of living is much higher, and minimum wage is higher ($9 - $10). Here in Fresno the standard of living is lower and the minimum wage is the state requirement ($7.50). In general, it balances it self out depending on where you live.

My sister lives in San Diego, and the cost of living there is not at all comperable to the average salary. Crazy expensive out there, especially property!

Hence why my folks moved back from Orange County, CA to Houston, TX. Too much money. You could buy a mansion for some of those tiny homes in CA...

IN for moving to Aussieland group buy though!

Houses seem to be the only expensive thing around here.

Australia has the lowest unemployments figures in over 30 years, around 4% and in Western Australia we are at full practical employment meaning more jobs than we have people. It's never been easier to immigrate to Australia for Yanks because we have such close ties to Dubya now. We are bringing skilled workers to Australia from all over the globe. The Aust Federal Government just reported a AUS $17 Billion budget surplus for the year as well. We have socialised medical care which means everyone gets medical care regardless of their ability to afford it.

How about new home construction sales agents ?

We just had a major real estate boom the last few years and now the market is crashing. The builder I work for is still doing quite well, while some of the major builders are selling off land and down sizing just to turn a profit.

we are in the midst a huge building boom for obvious reasons. Housing market here has average 20% growth for the last 3 years!!

My gosh if we weren't both enlisted and I could convince my husband to go, I would move to Australia. Sound nice!
